We usually think of this stuff as red. Not red-red, just red. But this time it's green, and is actually a surname, not a plastic. (Beware red herrings.) Well, so he's green, but his son was neither a Roman nor a boxer. His cousin, however, was part of a triumvirate, no measly little trio, though certainly not Roman. So, who *are* the Roman and the boxer and the triumvir? And, especially, who's green?

Yes, Green Clay! A soldier, politician, and the richest man in Kentucky in his day. What a name--there must be a reason for it. Perhaps he was simply dubbed with a family name.
All your connections are exactly what I had in mind.
There's a different green clay that can be facially applied.
