No, it actually didn't. The strike prevented instrumentalists from recording, not the record companies issuing back catalogue recordings or new a capella recordings (vocal only). Vocalists were not on strike. It should be noted that this was a USA strike only, and recording went on in the main part of the world subject only to the restrictions and economies imposed by wartime conditions.
