    		A 'fictive elopement' is a cross between a traditional 'proper' wedding (with full public ceremony and procession) and an elopement. It involves the family pretending to be unaware of their daughter's impending elopement despite everyone knowing about it. It includes secrecy on the part of the bride's household, but a quiet wedding procession to fetch the bride and bring her to her husband's house.
