What is the difference between a Jones fracture and a Pseudo-Jones fracture?

Question #111648. Asked by serpa. (Dec 22 09 2:10 PM)

"A Jones fracture (mistakenly referred to as a Dancers Fracture) is a fracture of the fifth metatarsal of the foot. ... If the fracture enters the intermetatarsal joint it is a Jones fracture. If the fracture enters the tarsometarsal joint then it is an avulsion fracture caused by pull from the peroneus brevis. An avulsion fracture is sometimes called a Pseudo-Jones fracture."
