The original site of the Silverdale First War Memorial was above the Silverdale wharf - about halfway between the bridge and the Silverdale pub on the north side of the road.
It was moved to its present site on the east side of the road outside the rugby club when this 'new' road and bridge were built so that peple driving by on the 'new' main highway could see it.
The orginal site was gifted for the memorial, possibly by a Mr. John Curle who died in Silverdale, aged 99 years, in about the 1960's. It is still sacred land.
