    Why are porno flicks called blue movies?

    		The word 'blue' has meant risque or off-color in various contexts since about the turn of the century. It may be associated with the custom of changing the colors of the spotlights in burlesque houses during the more titillating acts but the etymology isn't certain.

    "Blue movie" merely follows in that tradition of usage meaning a risque or off-color film.

    		Blue is the colour of Aphrodite the Greek goddess of love and lust. Nowadays porn movies are called, blue movies because of this.
