The word 'blue' has meant risque or off-color in various contexts since about the turn of the century. It may be associated with the custom of changing the colors of the spotlights in burlesque houses during the more titillating acts but the etymology isn't certain.
"Blue movie" merely follows in that tradition of usage meaning a risque or off-color film.
Being a child of the 80s, I have seen the movies mentioned in this quiz at least 50 times each. This is my first quiz, so please e-mail me with corrections or suggestions. Enjoy!
