San Francisco Sees Major Drop In Homicides In 2009
San Francisco Sees 54 Percent Dip In Homicides; Overall Number Lowest In Almost 50 Years
(AP) SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco appears on track in 2009 to have the lowest number of murders in nearly 50 years.
Mayor Gavin Newsom and Police Chief George Gascon announced Tuesday that homicides in the city have dropped from 98 in 2008 to 45 so far this year. If that number stands, it would the city's lowest number of homicides since 1961.

I think Heather Fong had a lot to do with that.

That was what I was thinking exactly Knud! How do you know so much about SF if you're in St Louis? I thought if it said Gascon just joined in August or later, he must've had little to do with it.
Its amazing how its a 50% drop! Wow that's just amazing, no wonder so little killings in SF in the news. I think Heather Fong deserves a lot of credit, but she was also the chief in the years before when there were 90+ killings also.
