    Are Chinese and Japanese the same thing?

    		Of course not. Chinese is something or someone from China and Japanese is something or someone from Japan.
    Chinese is the language spoken in China.
    Japanese is the language spoken in Japan.

    		One of the three Japanese "alphabets" is called Kanji, and uses charcters from the Chinese "alphabet", although with sometimes different pronouciations.
