Depends what sort of people you call friends... They perform a very necessary function, politically, as bogeymen. North Korea is part of the '"axis of evil" and [is] an "outpost of tyranny"' according to one US President. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Korea et al There are formal diplomatic relations between the UK and North Korea, but not between the USA and North Korea. (Sweden handles things.) They are talking, though, which makes a change.
