19th Academy Awards – 1946
Harold Russell became the first (and only) actor to receive two Academy Awards for the same performance when he won the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in The Best Years of Our Lives and was also presented with an Academy Honorary Award "for bringing hope and courage to his fellow veterans through his appearance in The Best Years of Our Lives".[

The first person to win a 2nd Oscar was Lewis Milestone, and they were for directing.
#1 1929 - Two Arabian Knights
#2 1930 - All Quiet on the Western Front
I couldn't find a direct link to this fact, I had to get clever with the Oscars database found here:
http://awardsdatabase.oscars.org/ampas_awards/BasicSearchInput.jsp
I limited the range to the 1st - 3rd Oscars, clicked on winners only, then sorted it by the nominee's name alphabetically. He was the only PERSON with two.
