Where in the world might champions read a line or two from what is often considered a trite poem by a prolific author who also wrote two other well-known works that provided inspiration to a youth movement designed to support the physical and moral development of young people?

Sounds like the lines from Kipling's poem "If" at Wimbledon.

The poem's line, "If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two impostors just the same" is written on the wall of the centre court players' entrance at the British tennis tournament, Wimbledon.

The other well-known works would be The Jungle Book and Kim, both influencing Lord Baden-Powell in his Boy Scout movement. Kipling also wrote a poem "A Boy Scouts' Patrol Song"

The link below outlines the acquaintanceship of Kipling and Baden-Powell

    Thank you, 22crows!

Kipling may no longer be in vogue, but his influence certainly lingers on.
