Can anyone tell me the title and lyrics of the song with these lines, "Toilets running, shake the handle. Has anyone seen my husband? His name is Randall?" Might be Tom Waits, but not sure.

Question #113083. Asked by unclerick. (Feb 24 10 2:15 PM)

Looks like it is indeed Tom Waits. From Putnam County, 1975. Pretty interesting lyrics.

The actual line is "toilet's runnin' shake the
Handle, telephone's ringin' it's Mrs Randal
Where the hell are my goddam sandals"

From "Nighthawks at the Diner", it's always sounded like a reworking of "The Ghosts of Saturday Night (After Hours at Napoleon's Pizza House" from "The Heart of Saturday Night" to me. Pure Waits, all classics.

Will you please help me find the lyrics to the song 'The Briar And The Rose' which is by Tom Waits (I think)?

How is a 1976 album by musical artist Tom Waits related to the lyrics of “The Wassail Song”?

These lines written by an artist ask a poetic question concerning a religious legend. Later set to music, they became the lyrics of a song now considered by some to be a virtual anthem for a certain nation and that inspired the title of an Academy Award-winning film. They also include a term frequently interpreted as a reference to a great social and economic upheaval occurring at the time they were composed. What is this poem, who wrote it, and by what name do we know the musical version?
