Who was the first ever player to come on as a substitute in an English FA cup match?

    Question #113115. Asked by jonsmith1963. (Feb 26 10 5:16 PM)

The first substitutes were allowed in the 1967 FA cup runup, so it depends if you mean the first round proper or the final, although I've yet to find either in enough detail to give more than the scores and the results in the finals. I hope it's a start though.

Thanks Satguru. Yes I am trying to find the name of the FIRST ever sub, I am guessing it would be a qualifying round. Will keep looking!

If you want the qualifying round only the FA and clubs involved would be likely to have records- bearing in mind hundreds of teams start (even the ones below the ladder) you'll have a job knowing which match had the first substitution as it's not the sort of thing they'd have shared with many other places. Obviously it's most likely to be an early injury but the FA themselves are probably the only likely source if you need to know it.

I've also sent it to my team of football experts, they got one more here although it took them months and wasn't available to find online either so never know.
