    		Canada! The previous record for host-country golds was 10, which Canada tied last night (Friday Feb 26)

    		While Guitargoddess' answer is correct if talking about the Winter Olympics, the Summer Olympics give out many more golds than the Winter, so many Summer hosts have won more than 12 medals.

    The best I can find is the US in 1984 (when they had the advantage of a Soviet-bloc boycott removing much of their competition) with 83 golds.

    		this goes with guitargoddess's post. Canada has now won 14 gold medals including their latest in Olympic hockey.
