    alpha and beta are the first two letters of the NATO Phonetic Alphabet (and Greek) and the origin of the word "alphabet".

    But Bravo is "B" in the NATO phonetic alphabet. Here's a list of all 26 letters.

    I think Laura's right about that - the page quoted by mickey is actually about the Greek alphabet. The first one Alpha Bravo Charlie is the one I've had most to do with in telephone and radio comms, and it contains Alpha and Delta (A and D in Greek). I have used the old British Abel Baker Charlie, but only briefly (when we tapped into and then reconnected in a different pattern the field telephones being used in a TA exercise and re-arranged the practice minefield as well...).
