PINELLAS COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- The Bay area's great monkey mystery goes on.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, two sightings of the 30-pound macaque monkey that has been on the loose were reported Wednesday morning.

A third sighting was reported Wednesday afternoon, when a citizen called the sheriff's office to report seeing the monkey near Alt U.S. 19 near Foxboro Drive in Palm Harbor.

Earlier in the day, the monkey was spotted at Highlands Blvd and U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor Wednesday morning just before 9 a.m. It was later seen at Westlake Road and Tampa Road in the Rustic Oaks Subdivision, also in Palm Harbor.

The monkey, which has been on the loose for about two weeks, has been spotted several times in parts of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. Officials with the sheriff's office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have attempted to capture the monkey a few times without success.
