    With its roots in modern dance, gymnastics and circus performance, aerial dance is an innovative art form that was pioneered in the late 1960s by Terry Sendgraff. Since its inception, aerial dance has developed its own movement vocabulary and has grown to include over 25 dance companies in the US alone. Though similar at first glance, aerial dance differs from circus performance in two key ways. Aerial Dance is low-flying and provides endless opportunities for partnering between grounded and flying dancers.
