NFL rules mandate that there are 24 'field' balls and 12 “'kicking' balls available at every NFL home game.
The home team provides the 24 balls used on the field during most plays from scrimmage and the NFL overnights the 12 kicking balls to the officiating crew at their hotel.
The balls used at Lambeau Field are part of the yearly shipment received directly from Wilson Sporting Goods Co. in Ada, Ohio. The company is under contract to provide all balls for the NFL.
During any given week during the NFL regular season, there are 576 official game balls in play across the United States.
As any regular listeners of the BBC radio comedy "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue" will surely agree, one of the truly great and defining rounds is the Balls.
