Why is the Flying Dutchman called a Dutchman?

    Question #114403. Asked by George95. (Apr 29 10 6:36 AM)

The legend is said to have started based on Captain Bernard Fokke of Frisia (part of the Netherlands and Germany), a captain for the Dutch East India Company who was renowned for the speed at which he sailed...some saying he even made deals with the devil to sail to quickly.
