How did Chanel Number 5 get its name?

    Question #114404. Asked by star_gazer. (Apr 29 10 8:42 AM)

    It was her lucky number.
Coco Chanel, the famed fashion designer, visited the laboratory of Ernest Beaux, where he showed off some of the perfumes he was working on. The samples were labeled Numbers 1 - 5 and Numbers 20 - 24. Chanel picked vial #5 as the one that she would present to some of her best clients. When asked what she would call it, she reportedly said "I launch my collection on May 5, fifth month of the year, leave it to it number which it carries and this number 5 will carry chance to it".
