Is it true that tennis players regularly eat bananas to keep them nice and strong?

Yes. I mean ...no... er.. um. This answer seems to say both yes and no to banana eating for our tennis heroes.
"Now when you see Rafael Nadal all busy eating bananas during a match it is not because he is pregnant, but it is because according to what researchers say. That just 2 bananas will give you energy for 90 minutes of heavy work.
Kidding aside, bananas are a very important part of any athletes diet, tennis players included.
Nevertheless tennis players and coaches should be aware that eating a banana or two during the course of a tennis match is counter-productive:
1. Takes up precious blood, much needed for muscle oxygenation and performance, that instead goes to the stomach to digest the "banana"
2. The banana generally will never be digested!"

At least some tennis players do eat bananas - Rafael Nadal is a particular fan. They provide carbohydrates in a quickly-digested form, as well as useful vitamins. You will note that players usually take a bite or two, they do not load themselves down with an entire banana!
