    What is a manchester as it refers to a product area in a store?

    		Manchester refers to (traditionally) cotton goods - towels, bedding, sheets, etc. The name refers to the fact that the city of Manchester was a major manufacturer of these goods, and the phrase Manchester linen or Manchester towels or whatever got shortened to Manchester.
