    Why is frozen orange juice cheaper than its fresh counterpart?

    		Concentration is useful because it extends the shelf life of the juice and makes storage and shipping more economical.

    		Shipping is a huge cost.

    The fresh OJ we get here in Philadelphia comes from Florida. The cost of fuel alone to transport all that juice is astronomical. The OJ keeps on the shelf only a week or so and then it must be thrown out.

    Compare that to frozen concentrate that can be stored by the supermarkets for up to a year.
