    		The infamous Richard M. Nixon, then Eisenhower's Vice President, was pelted with stones during his trip through Caracas, Venezuela. Eisenhower was warned not to send Nixon to Venezuela, as anti-American sentiment was running high due to the US policy of supporting political coups in Central America.
