    		Iron pyrites, due to the colour although mainly forming cubic crystals while gold itself is amorphic

    		Since Pyrite is not an element, does it make it weaker than gold?

    		Gold is a lot softer but pyrites being a normal compound will oxidise readily so lose its shine and is very brittle and easy to break.
