    Rain water is light in color. Why then are rain clouds dark?

    		Rain clouds look dark because the water droplets in them are large in number and densely packed. This cause a lot of the incoming light to reflect back out to space, making them look dark. When the rain falls, it is as individual drops, which do nt reflect light as efficiently.
