    "The Tropic of Capricorn" by Henry Miller was banned until 1961.

    Cancer (1938) is the sequel to Capricorn (1934) - Wikipedia refers to Capricorn having been banned in the USA but doesn't mention this for Cancer. It does say that Cancer was the test case one. I think a bit more research is needed (and to maintain my anonymity I'm keeping out of it....) See above ref and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropic_of_Cancer_%28novel%29 Both ended up published in the USA in 1961.
