Why do some toy balls bounce higher than others?

There are two reasons why a ball might bounce higher. It might be made from a springier type of rubber/plastic. A perfectly bouncy ball if dropped will bounce back to the same height as it started from. This is unachievable in practise. The best you will get is a ball which will bounce to about 3/4 of the original height. The other thing that affects the height is the size of the ball if you throw it at the ground. You can throw a small ball so that it goes much faster. The faster it hits the ground, the higher it will bounce.
