Probably the main one would be Lavrentiy Beria - a very nice kind gentleman from Georgia. NOT. Possibly a bigger b****** than Stalin, and responsible for a few of the outrages attributed to Uncle Joe. As to the other two - Beria was surrounded by people from the Caucasus. He knew he could trust these, as he'd had most of the other early activists murdered. (Well, they were revolutionaries, weren't they? Not the sort you want around when you're established in power yourself.). He was associated in a brief triumvirate with Malenkov and Molotov (who didn't invent the cocktail - that was the Finns who were throwing them at Soviet tanks...), but neither of them was from the Caucasus. I can't even find "the Caucasian Trio" on a Google search (except in connection with some video or other). For more about the lovely Beria, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavrentiy_Beria

Nice one. (Nasty three...) I forgot about Ordzhonikidze and Mikoyan. Interesting trio - two Georgians and an Armenian. Wikipedia refers to them as the "Caucasian Clique".
