Francesco Procopio dei Coltelli (a Sicilian aristocrat) opened a cafe in 1686 Paris called "Le Procope". Although it's menu included ice cream, it was probably water ices and not made of cream. For this reason it is uncertain when exactly the first ice cream palour did appear in Europe, as there were many establishments that opened copying "Café Procope" so it's difficult to say which one was the first.
First ice cream shop in America was opened in 1770 by Giovanni Bosio. The first to advertise that he sold ice cream was Filippo Lenzi in 1774. Both of these were Italian emigrants in New York City.
