I'm not finding anything concrete -- but, it looks like he excommunicated them. :)
For seemingly the first time, Menno realized the seriousness of his beliefs and the repercussions others were facing because of them while he stayed comfortable in the Catholic Church, living a lie. As his views became known, his life was in danger. So in January 1536, Menno Simons broke with the Roman Catholic Church to join the Anabaptist movement. His baptism is unknown, but probably soon after his departure from Witmarsum.

It should be noted that Menno Simons broke with the Anabaptists because he was concerned about their radical views. While he agreed with them on the subject of adult baptism and repudiated the doctrine of excommunication, he was troubled by the fact that many Anabaptists were willing to break laws, and Menno was an essentially law-abiding person. His followers maintained his attitude to living law abiding lives. Menno suffered greatly for his beliefs, but remained steadfast. I live in an area heavily populated by Mennonites and the story of Menno is well-known in these parts.
