Why do the Inuits refuse to eat the liver from polar bears?

    Question #118157. Asked by star_gazer. (Oct 14 10 9:50 PM)

    Zbeckabee

Local people have known for a long time that eating the liver of a polar bear is a dangerous thing to do. Normally animal livers are very nutritious but the liver of the polar bear is very high in vitamin A. So high that even eating a small amount of the liver can produce toxic effects.
