    		US Navy destroyer William D. Porter (DD-579) was responsible for all the above November 12 thru 14, 1943. She let loose with a torpedo aimed at the US battleship Iowa (BB-61) which was transporting POTUS FDR to the Cairo and Teheran Conferences. The Iowa evaded the torpedo and the Porter's Captain and entire crew were arrested and escorted to Bermuda for an investigation. The Porter was sunk by a kamikaze on June 10, 1945 during the battle for Okinawa.
