2001 : A Space Odyssey
It was given this tagline, because the "trip" concerned human evolution. The monolith placed on Earth speeded up evolution in prehistory and the one found on the moon start a race to the moons of Jupiter - the prize being the next step in evolution.

More cynically, it could be argued that the visualisation of astronaut David Bowman's journey from the Monolith orbiting Jupiter to a mocked-up hotel room many light-years from the Solar System resembles nothing so much as a psychedelic light-show, and it is on record that hippies and other drug-users would often go to the cinema to watch this segment while stoned.
"While '2001' is certainly not responsible for the LSD fad that was hitting America at the time, the movie's contents encouraged drug use in movie theaters. Theater managers were at their wits ends trying to halt the marihuana smoking in theater balconies." Emanuel Levy, 2008
