You got him, though it was Damn Yankees in 1955 and its revival in 1994 I was looking for (He died in 1995).
I forgot that there were 2 Oscar ceremonies in 1930, so it should've read 25 years after. 24 years after was indeed the Pajama Game.
He won Tonys for both Pajama Game and Damn Yankees, and turned both in to successful movies, doing those in consecutive years as well, 1957/58.
