What is the connection between a somewhat stupid hero in The Ring (not LoTR, the earlier one) and an Idyll? (Be careful - I'm not just after the Idyll's name. There's a 'why' in there too.)

Siegfried and Richard Wagner
The "Siegfried Idyll" was written in 1871 as a birthday gift to the composer’s wife and named for his son, Siegfried, who was born while he was composing the music. The thematic material is largely drawn from "Siegfried" in the "Nibelung Trilogy," including the motive from the love scene in the third act, phrases from Wotan’s Farewell and Brünnhilde’s Address.

Yay! Just think of the cost now of getting a band together to play a new piece on Christmas morning....
