No, the training shoe doesn't fit this question.
The revenue of Adidas in 2010 was a mere $12 billion and Puma managed less than $3 billion.
We are talking about two phenominally huge US companies here. Both men, who were from the same US state but not closely related, lied about their ages to be in the same unit after WWI. Their companies are not in the same industries but one does have tie-ins with the other.
Come on. Someone must get it now...

The answer was Ray Kroc, who bought the McDonald's franchise, and Walt Disney.
Both men lied about their age to join the Red Cross ambulance corps where they met and became friends. The war ended before they saw any service.
