In the play "Pygmalion" by George Bernard Shaw, where did the Eynsford-Hills get their money?

    Question #121436. Asked by metsfan1001. (May 17 11 3:57 PM)

    Datsmeharse

Mrs. Eynsford-Hill had a small income from her late husband's estate. Freddy's income source is not mentioned except that he had little money, an allowance from his mother is assumed.
The original source of the Eynsford-Hill's money doesn't appear to be mentioned, though it can be assumed to have been land holdings/rents etc. since it's mentioned they were above a commercial trade, though financial burdens force Freddy into one after he marries Eliza.

It's mention in the prologue that Freddy was christened as Frederick Challoner. A challoner makes blankets, so perhaps that was the family's orignal trade in centuries past.
