Do any of the world's navies still have a rum ration?

Question #121912. Asked by unclerick. (Jun 14 11 8:14 PM)

Although the British Royal Navy ended its "rum ration" in 1970, Queen Elizabeth II still on occasion issues the rum ration on special occasions, such as royal weddings and birthdays and important anniversaries. Thus, there is still one navy that practices it from time to time.

Because of what ingredient of a grog did the replacement of the Royal Navy's traditional "ration of beer" by a "ration of grog" have a beneficial effect on the general health of British sailors in the 18th and 19th century (the French kept getting their rations of beer and lost the battle of Trafalgar)?

I'm looking for the name of a TV mini series movie/show. We had rented them from the video store. It's about a boy who is traveling to different worlds looking for pieces of a machine to get him back home (I think.) He is gathering something along his way. He travels to different worlds with a "professor" and maybe another person. Along the way he visits 5-8 different worlds (each was a different movie.) They were all entitled "Somebody and the Land of ???" One world had to do with giant eggs, one world a town of toys, and the end was a land something like a fantasy "Camelot." My children watched these movies anywhere from 1988 - 1993. I'm hoping someone can help me end my frazzled search.

Does anyone know the respective sizes of the world's ten biggest navies?
