    Are polymer banknotes more expensive to make than paper banknotes?

    Yes. ." Manuel ( Bank of Canada) Perreira said that while the new notes will be more expensive to make - 19 cents each, compared to 10 cents - and will require a modification of ATMs, they will last twice as long as paper bills.
