The 50km cycling race at the 1997 Pan Arab Games in Beirut had to be officially expunged from the records after authorities forgot to close the roads for the event. Only four riders managed to complete the course, one of them after being knocked down by a car.
Traffic was so bad that vehicles carrying supervising officials got stuck in jams and were soon behind the pace. No one could formally vouch that the course had been adhered to by any of the competitors.
