There appear to be many open irrigation canals (or also called ditches) around the globe. One is, the KOHALA MOUNTAINS IRRIGATION DITCH ( Hawaii) brings water from the the Kokala Mountains over 22 miles through downhill flumes and tunnels to the partched lowlands where sugar and other crops now flourish. In addition, the ditches are used for Kayaking.
