February 15th In 1964 Lester B. Pearson (Prime Minister at the time) informed The House of Commons he wanted to adopted a distintive national flag. After a lot of suggestions, ideas and bureaucracy, the decision was made to use the design you see today. It was proclaim by Queen Elizabeth II to take effect February 15, 1965.
