Mostly correct.
According to the Innocence Project, the 25% figure includes not just convictions where the defendent confessed, but also those where the defendent made incriminating statements or pled guilty.
Reasons for false confessions include: duress, coercion, intoxication, diminished capacity, mental impairment, ignorance of the law, fear of violence, the actual infliction of harm, the threat of a harsh sentence, and misunderstanding the situation.
