No. In the US any individual or corporate entity can be sued. An LLC is a limited liability company, usually set up for flexibility and/or tax purposes. An example is a small C corp which owns their own manufacturing facility. They may set up an LLC to own the building and property, even though the ownership may be the same as the corporation. In the event of a lawsuit involving property owned by the LLC, the corporation in theory would be free of the liability. In reality, it is not that simple.

An LLC can be sued and, if you're successful, you will only receive monies from the LLC, not its owners (same as a company or corporation). The owners and the LLC are and have separate legal identities.
Limited Liability Company.
This is a U.S. business structure that is a cross between a partnership and a corporation. Like a corporation, the individual owners of an LLC are protected from personal liability. However, an LLC retains the partnership's benefit of having profits and losses pass to the owners without the entity itself being taxed. This business structure is ideal for small companies who are not yet ready for incorporation, but would like to avoid personal liability.
