    A pair of scissors would that imply that one blade would be a singular scissor?

    		The word 'scissors' comes from a Latin word meaning 'to cut'. It is inherently plural - a single blade is just a blade; two of them placed together in such a way that they exert a shearing action and cut material are scissors. There have been times when the singular form was used to refer to them, but now it is generally plural.

    		So the name for the article is simply "scissors" A pair of scissors would imply two such articles?
