Scroll down about one third of the page until you come to "Steiff's Belles of the Barnyard: Roosters & Hens". About halfway down that article highlighted in yellow is the phrase "post-war hen".

Here is what it says about it: "For size, the pre-war rooster model was available in 8, 17, 22, and 28 cm, while the post war model was available in 10, 17, and 28 cm. The pre-war hen was produced in 17, 22, and 28 cm, while the post-war hen was only available in 10 and 17 cm."

I was thinking about this while preparing for a trip to the post office this morning; that oft-seen phrase, "Do not fold, spindle, or mutilate." We all know what folding and mutilating is, but how do I spindle my letter, and why doesn't the post office want me to do this?
