If a computer can be taught to learn, and thus taught to win, can it too be taught to lose, or would it shut down because of not understanding the fact that it has the ability to learn to lose?

Question #12377. Asked by labbet. (Jun 11 01 4:04 AM)

    Gnomon

If you teach a computer to win, you are just setting a goal which it has to achieve. It then learns how to do it, assuming it is able to learn. For losing, you just set a different goal. So it can be taught to lose just as easily, in fact probably easier, because it is easier to lose most games (such as chess) than to win them.
