Did the disease Hemophilia really have its beginning in the British Royal Family?

    Question #124348. Asked by george48. (Dec 03 11 1:53 AM)

Haemophilia is a genetic disorder and has been recognised for centuries.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemophilia

"The first medical professional to describe a disease was Abulcasis. In the tenth century he described families whose males died of bleeding after only minor traumas. While many other such descriptive and practical references to the disease appear throughout historical writings, scientific analysis did not begin until the start of the nineteenth century."

    "Is haemophilia a Royal Disease?
Haemophilia is not a link to Royalty. Haemophilia is, however, sometimes referred to as the Royal Disease because several members of the Royal Family were affected by it in the 1800s. In fact, Queen Victoria of England was a carrier."

"Haemophilia is an inherited condition and occurs in families, however in 1/3 of cases it appears in families with no previous history of the disorder."
