    France with 12. France has areas around the world which are part of the country despite being half a world away e.g. New Caledonia in the Pacific Ocean.

    Tizz is absolutely correct about France having the most time zones when you consider its extended territories. However, the country with the largest number of contiguous time zones is still Russia.

    On March 28, 2010, Russia eliminated two time zones, going from 11 to 9, but still has the most contiguous time zones.
